GMU Communication Department offers a unique graduate exchange program with the University of Milan

 

About the University of Milan:

cathedralThe University of Milan is a public institution with 9 Faculties (equivalent to US Colleges), about two hundred Under Graduate and Graduate Degrees, and about forty PhD programs.  It enrolls more than 60,000 students, being the largest University among the six existing in Milan.

 

Football

 The Faculty of Political Science that host the MA in Communication is one of the  most lively among the 9 faculties, hosting about 7,000 students (UG and G), offering a wide range of courses in international studies, economics, human resources, history, political science, sociology, communication, international law and modern languages.  The website can be found at http://www.spolitiche.unimi.it/pagina.php?

About the Program:

  • The Department of Communication of GMU signed an exchange
    agreement with the Degree Course in Social and Political Communication of the Faculty of Political Science of the University of Milan (Italy) for the years 2007-2009 (4 semesters).
  • The exchange consists of the possibility for 8 GMU graduate students
    (2 per semester) to spend a semester in Milan, and for 8 Italian graduate students to spend a semester at GMU. 
  • The Milan Degree Course offers a wide array of classes in communication (especially in public, political, marketing, PR, organizational,
    economic and social areas).
  • The coursework students take in Milan will be transferred into their Mason degree program, and Mason students traveling to Milan may be eligible for financial support to help defray travel costs.

 

Opera HouseMilan has been nicknamed the “New York of Italy”: it is indeed the    capital of finance, business, media, fashion, sport and performing arts.  It is home to La Scala, the world’s most famous Opera House, and hosts Leonardo’s Last Supper and the Music Conservatorium where Giuseppe Verdi and Arturo Toscanini taught.  Close distance to ski resorts and short train rides to both Venice and Florence!!!*
